Dewgong is a pinniped Pokémon with a snowy white, furry body that renders it virtually invisible in snowy conditions. Its face features two black eyes, a black nose, and two tusks extending from its upper jaw. On top of its head is a sharp horn that allows it to cut through the thickest ice floes. With its streamlined body, two front flippers, and long flowing tail, Dewgong can swim at speeds of 8 knots even in extremely cold and ice-packed waters. It stores thermal energy in its body to fend off the cold and sleeps under shallow ocean waters during the day. Dewgong loves to snooze on bitterly cold ice, and mariners long ago mistakenly thought the sight of this Pokémon sleeping on a glacier was a mermaid. It becomes more active and frisky in colder temperatures. After meals, it sunbathes on the beach to help with digestion by raising its body temperature. When hunting, it swims through the ocean searching for prey, with a particular fondness for Wishiwashi.
