Krabby is a crustacean Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It has a strong outer shell protecting its small body with its upper half colored red and featuring two small spikes on top of its head. The most distinctive features of Krabby are its two large, red pincers which serve as its main form of offense and help it maintain balance. If Krabby loses a claw during battle or has a damaged claw forcibly removed, it can regenerate over a short period. In the wild, Krabby lives near the edge of water in both fresh and salt water environments, most commonly found on beaches where it burrows in the sand. When food sources are scarce, it may consume sand to regain nutrients and becomes very aggressive in defending its territory. As a defense mechanism, Krabby creates foam to shroud its body, making it appear larger than it actually is to confuse opponents. Krabby is an omnivore and scavenger that rarely hunts for itself, sometimes acting as a filter feeder by harmonizing bacteria in the sand.
