Krabby is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. This crustacean Pokémon resembles a crab with a strong outer shell protecting its small body. Its upper half is red, featuring two small spikes on the top of its head and a pair of large, powerful pincers. Krabby's lower body is light tan and serves as its jaw with two fangs overlapping its upper body. It has four long, thin legs, each ending in a single, claw-like foot.
Krabby is known for its strong pincers, which it uses as its main form of offense and balance. Interestingly, if Krabby loses a claw during battle or has a damaged claw forcibly removed, it can regenerate over a short period. In the wild, Krabby lives near the edge of water in both fresh and salt water environments, often burrowing in the sand on beaches.
When food sources are scarce, Krabby may resort to eating sand to regain nutrients. It can be quite aggressive in defending its territory. As a defensive mechanism, Krabby can create foam to shroud its body, making it appear larger than it actually is to confuse potential predators.

- Ruby/Sapphire: Krabby live on beaches, burrowed inside holes dug into the sand. On sandy beaches with little in the way of food, these Pokémon can be seen squabbling with each other over territory.
- Sword: It can be found near the sea. The large pincers grow back if they are torn out of their sockets.

Krabby evolves into Kingler starting at level 28.
Habits
Krabby generally keeps to itself but will quickly defend itself if provoked. It is known to create foam to confuse opponents and make itself appear larger. In times of food scarcity, it may resort to eating sand for nutrients.
Additions Across Generations
Prior to Generation III, Krabby and its evolved form, Kingler, were the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Crabhammer. In later generations, Krabby gained access to new abilities such as Shell Armor and the hidden ability Sheer Force.
