Magnemite is a unique Electric/Steel-type Pokémon resembling a metallic sphere with a single large eye and two horseshoe magnets attached to its sides. It has the ability to float in the air by emitting electromagnetic waves that counteract gravity. This Pokémon is often found near power plants and areas with strong magnetic fields, where it feeds on electricity. Magnemite's body is composed of three Phillips head screws, with two near the bottom possibly serving as feet and one on top acting like an antenna.
Despite its artificial appearance, Magnemite has been depicted in ancient carvings discovered at the Ruins of Alph and has existed for at least 3,000 years according to historical accounts. Interestingly, Magnemite can experience emotions and has the ability to reproduce, as shown in the Pokémon animated series. The magnetic units on its body generate stronger electromagnetic fields the faster they rotate, allowing Magnemite to defy gravity and potentially disrupt electrical equipment.
Magnemite's interaction with humans is notable, as they are known to cause power outages by clustering around power lines and overloading them. Some power plants have resorted to sending out electrical signals that Magnemite can't tolerate to prevent such incidents. In the wild, Magnemite may approach Trainers without warning but generally doesn't seek interaction and may flee if approached.
