Rattata is a small, rodent-like Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Known as the Mouse Pokémon, it is characterized by its large teeth and quick movements. Rattata's incisors grow continuously throughout its life, requiring it to gnaw on hard objects to keep them from growing too long. These Pokémon are incredibly adaptable and can live in almost any environment, from grasslands to urban areas. Rattata are known for their strong survival instincts and rapid reproduction rates, often living in large groups. They are primarily nocturnal, becoming more active when the sun sets. Rattata have a keen sense of smell, which they use to locate food quickly. In the Alola region, Rattata have adapted to avoid newly introduced predators by becoming nocturnal and moving to more urban areas.

Evolutions
Rattata evolves into Raticate at level 20. In Alola, Rattata evolves into Alolan Raticate when leveled up at night starting at level 20.
Habits
Rattata are known for their cautious nature and constant vigilance. Even while sleeping, they move their ears to listen for danger. They are not picky eaters and will settle wherever food is available. In Alola, they have become more nocturnal and often raid human dwellings for food, bringing it back to their nest boss, Raticate.
Additions Across Generations
In Generation VII, Rattata received an Alolan form, changing its type to Dark/Normal and altering its appearance and behavior. This adaptation was due to the introduction of Yungoos as a predator, forcing Rattata to become nocturnal and more urban-dwelling. The Alolan form has different abilities and slightly different stats compared to its original form.
