Magneton is a unique Electric/Steel-type Pokémon that results from three Magnemite linking together through a powerful magnetic force. This cluster-like formation gives Magneton enhanced electrical capabilities, with about three times the power of a single Magnemite. Interestingly, when the three Magnemite combine, their brains also become one, though this doesn't necessarily make Magneton three times more intelligent.
Magneton emits strong electromagnetic waves that can be fatal to electronic devices and precision instruments. Due to this, some towns warn residents to keep Magneton inside Poké Balls to prevent disruptions. The Pokémon's presence can cause TV sets to malfunction and computers to go haywire. Magneton's magnetic force is so potent that it can dry out all moisture in its vicinity.
Curiously, Magneton appearances often coincide with increased sunspot activity. During rainstorms, they tend to gather in high places, presumably waiting for lightning strikes. Some researchers have observed that Magneton can form its electricity into platforms and barriers. In certain circumstances, Magneton can even raise the temperature by 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit within a 3,300-foot radius.

Evolutions
Magneton evolves from Magnemite at level 30. It can further evolve into Magnezone when leveled up in a special magnetic field area or, from Generation VIII onwards, when exposed to a Thunder Stone.
Habits and Additions Across Generations
In Generation 1, Magneton was originally a pure Electric-type. It gained its Steel typing in Generation 2, making it and Magnemite the first Pokémon to change types across generations. In the Pokémon Red and Blue beta, Magneton was initially known as "Recoil". The Pokémon's design has seen minor changes, with its number of visible screws varying between seven and nine in different sprite iterations.
