Hoppip is a dual-type Grass/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is known as the Cottonweed Pokémon and has a very light body, weighing only 1.1 lbs (0.5 kg). This lightweight nature allows Hoppip to be easily carried by the wind, often drifting across vast distances. Hoppip's body is round and pink, with long green leaves growing on top of its head that have ragged edges resembling a dandelion. It has big, triangular ears with dark insides and beady yellow eyes that lack pupils. To avoid being blown away by strong winds, Hoppip clusters together with others of its kind, linking their leaves, or grips the ground firmly with its feet.
Hoppip can be found in temperate grasslands, fields, mountains, and even urban environments, but is absent from cold regions. Its ability to drift on winds has allowed it to spread to many areas, making it a common sight in various habitats. Interestingly, it is said that when Hoppip gather in fields and mountains, it is a sign that spring is on the way.

Habits and Additions Across Generations
Hoppip can sense approaching strong winds and prepares by linking leaves with other Hoppip or gripping the ground firmly. In Generation 3, Hoppip did not have the Leaf Guard ability, which was added later. The base experience yield for Hoppip changed from 74 to 50 between earlier generations and more recent ones. In Pokémon Crystal, Hoppip learned the move Splash, which was not present in its moveset in Gold and Silver versions.
