Chikorita is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is known for the large leaf on its head, which serves multiple purposes. This leaf acts as a sensor, allowing Chikorita to check the temperature and humidity of its surroundings. The leaf also emits a sweet, pleasant aroma that can calm battling Pokémon and create a friendly atmosphere. Chikorita loves to bask in sunlight and uses its leaf to seek out warm places. It is a docile Pokémon that enjoys soaking up the sun's rays.
In battle, Chikorita waves its leaf around to keep foes at bay. It has the ability to release a soothing scent from its leaf, which can becalm opponents. Chikorita is one of the three starter Pokémon available at the beginning of Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver. Interestingly, it is the only first partner Pokémon from Generation II to be preserved from the Pokémon Gold and Silver Spaceworld '97 demo, although its earlier name "Happa" was changed.

In Super Smash Bros. games, Chikorita appears as a Poké Ball summon, using its Razor Leaf attack.
