Stantler is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. Known as the Big Horn Pokémon, it stands at 1.4 meters (4'07") tall and weighs 71.2 kg (157.0 lbs). Stantler's most distinctive feature is its large, curved antlers that possess mysterious powers. These antlers can subtly change the flow of air to create a strange space where reality is distorted, causing those who stare at them to gradually lose control of their senses. The round balls found on fallen Stantler antlers can be ground into a powder that aids in sleeping.
In the past, Stantler lived in much harsher environments with more enemies, which strengthened its psychic powers. This allowed it to evolve into Wyrdeer, though this evolution is not possible in all regions. Stantler's strange antlers were once highly valued as works of art, leading to the species being nearly hunted to extinction. They typically live in herds in temperate, mountainous forests, sometimes led by a Wyrdeer.

Habits and Additions Across Generations
Stantler's abilities and characteristics have been expanded upon throughout different generations of Pokémon games. In Generation 3, Stantler gained the Frisk ability. Its base friendship value was changed from 70 to 50 in Generation 8. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it was revealed that Stantler could evolve into Wyrdeer under specific conditions, showcasing its ancient stronger form. The Pokémon's connection to the real-world location of Nara, Japan, where many tame deer roam freely, is reflected in its placement on routes leading to Violet City in the Johto region games.
