Skiploom is a dual-type Grass/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is known as the Cottonweed Pokémon and evolves from Hoppip at level 18, later evolving into Jumpluff at level 27. Skiploom has a round, green body with stubby arms, feet, and tail, along with large, flat ears and oval, red eyes. Its most distinctive feature is the yellow bloom on top of its head with a white center. This flower is sensitive to temperature changes, opening and closing as the temperature fluctuates. Interestingly, Skiploom's flower blossoms when the temperature rises above 64°F (18°C), making it sometimes used as a natural thermometer. Skiploom floats in the air to absorb sunlight and get closer to the sun, but quickly hides under tree shade when it rains. Some enthusiasts claim they can determine a Skiploom's birthplace by the scent from its flower. When the weather turns cold, Skiploom's flower closes, preventing it from photosynthesizing, which prompts it to migrate to warmer regions.
