Rhyhorn is a Ground/Rock-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. This rhinoceros-like creature is known for its incredible strength and durability, with a body covered in thick, rocky plates. Rhyhorn's most distinctive feature is its powerful horn, which it uses to charge at opponents and obstacles. Despite its impressive physical prowess, Rhyhorn is not known for its intelligence. In fact, its brain is remarkably small, leading to a one-track mind that often causes it to forget why it started running in the first place.

One of Rhyhorn's most interesting characteristics is its inability to turn easily due to its short legs. Once it starts charging, it can only run in a straight line, often continuing until it falls asleep or collides with something. This single-minded determination allows Rhyhorn to expand its territory, which can span up to six miles in radius. However, it may forget the boundaries of its own territory when running.

Rhyhorn's physical strength is truly remarkable. Its bones are said to be 1,000 times harder than human bones, allowing it to easily knock a trailer flying. In fact, Rhyhorn is so powerful that it can shatter skyscrapers and even mountains with its charging tackles. Despite this incredible strength, Rhyhorn may feel some pain the day after a collision.

Evolutions

Rhyhorn evolves into Rhydon at level 42, which can further evolve into Rhyperior when traded while holding a Protector.

Habits and Additions Across Generations

Rhyhorn's behavior and characteristics have remained largely consistent across generations. However, its hidden ability, Reckless, was introduced in later generations, enhancing the power of its recoil moves. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it was noted that Rhyhorn's short legs struggle with turns, and it is incapable of stopping unless it collides with something, further emphasizing its straight-line charging behavior.
