Quagsire is a dual Water/Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. This carefree amphibious creature has an easygoing nature and is known for its sluggish behavior. Quagsire has a light blue, bipedal body with a broad, round head that has little neck to distinguish it from the rest of its body. It features a wide mouth, tiny black eyes, and a wavy purple stripe running down its back. Male Quagsire have a larger dark blue fin along their spine compared to females. Its outer layer of skin is slimy and slippery, allowing it to easily glide through water.
Despite its dim-witted appearance, Quagsire has unique hunting strategies. It often lies motionless at the bottom of rivers with its mouth wide open, waiting for unsuspecting prey to swim in. This patient approach to hunting means Quagsire doesn't get very hungry and can afford to wait for its food. Interestingly, Quagsire continues this behavior even while sleeping, as observed in Pokémon Sleep.
Quagsire is known for its clumsy swimming, often bumping into boat hulls and riverbed boulders without seeming to care. This carefree attitude extends to its daily life, where it avoids sunlight by submerging itself in water during the day. In the wild, Quagsire has been observed participating in annual celebrations at Blue Moon Falls, where they compete to launch round objects to the top of a waterfall using their attacks.

Quagsire is known for its catchphrase "hmm" and is described as a hard taskmaster.
In Pokémon Sleep, Quagsire's sleeping behavior has been observed, revealing that it continues to leave its mouth open even while asleep, possibly dreaming of waiting for prey.
