Koffing is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is a spherical creature filled with toxic gases that give it the ability to float and levitate. Koffing's body is covered in crater-like protrusions that release a foul-smelling poisonous gas. Its face features vacant eyes and a wide mouth, usually with two pointed teeth in the upper jaw. Below its face is a cream-colored skull-and-crossbones marking.
This Pokémon's thin, balloon-like body can expand and deflate based on its mood and temperature. When agitated, Koffing can raise the toxicity of its internal gases and expel them from all over its body. In extreme cases, it may overinflate and explode. Koffing feeds on the fumes of raw, rotting garbage found in trash dumps and polluted areas.
Interestingly, Koffing mixes toxins with raw garbage to create a chemical reaction that produces a powerful poison gas. The higher the temperature, the more gas is concocted by this Pokémon. In the past, Koffing was more plentiful in the Galar region due to the prevalence of factories and pollution.

Koffing evolves into Weezing at level 35. In the Galar region, it evolves into Galarian Weezing at level 35.
Habits
Koffing is often found in urban and suburban areas, particularly in locations with high pollution levels. It is attracted to the fumes of rotting garbage and thrives in environments with contaminated air. When threatened, Koffing may use its gases to create a smokescreen or, in extreme cases, cause an explosion as a defense mechanism.
Additions Across Generations
In Generation VIII, Koffing gained the ability Neutralizing Gas, which suppresses the abilities of all Pokémon on the field. It also received a regional evolution in the form of Galarian Weezing, a Poison/Fairy-type Pokémon. The addition of the hidden ability Stench in later generations gave Koffing a chance to make opponents flinch when hit by its attacks.
