Hypno is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is known as the Hypnosis Pokémon and is the evolved form of Drowzee. Hypno is a bipedal, slightly humanoid Pokémon with yellow skin, triangular ears, sleepy-looking eyes, and a large nose. It carries a pendulum in its left hand, which it uses for hypnosis. The pendulum resembles a flat, silver ring and is never seen without it.
Hypno's hypnotic abilities are incredibly potent. It can put people to sleep by swinging its pendulum, and its arcing movement and glitter can lull foes into a deep state of hypnosis. Interestingly, seeing its swinging pendulum can induce sleep in three seconds, even in someone who just woke up. While Hypno is considered an extremely dangerous Pokémon, some people who need a good night's sleep actually call it their savior.
In the Alola region, Hypno primarily targets Komala and rarely harms people. Some Hypno even assist doctors with patients who can't sleep at night in hospitals. However, there are also darker aspects to Hypno's lore. It's known to make anyone it meets fall asleep and taste their dreams, carrying off those having good dreams. There was even an incident where a Hypno took away a child it had hypnotized.

In earlier generations, it was portrayed as a more sinister Pokémon, with Pokédex entries mentioning it putting humans to sleep and feasting on their dreams. In later generations, particularly in the Alola region, Hypno is shown to have a more benevolent side, assisting with sleep-related medical issues. The addition of Komala as its main target in Alola also provides an interesting ecological detail. Hypno's ability to create illusions, as shown in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, adds another layer to its psychic capabilities.
