Dodrio is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Doduo starting at level 31. This unique avian Pokémon is known for its three heads, each with a long, sharp beak and a black V-shaped feather crest. Dodrio's three heads are said to represent joy, sadness, and anger. Its body is covered in bristly brown feathers on the upper half and smooth black feathers on the lower half, with a tail consisting of three pale red feathers. Dodrio has two long, powerful legs that allow it to run at high speeds, capable of reaching nearly 40 mph in prairies.

Interestingly, Dodrio not only has three heads but also three sets of hearts and lungs, enabling it to run long distances without rest. This efficient oxygenation and blood pumping system gives Dodrio increased endurance, making it especially prone to race vigorously across grassy plains, even in arid seasons with little rainfall. Despite being slower than its pre-evolution Doduo, Dodrio can maintain its running pace for extended periods.

Dodrio is known to usually sleep standing up, with each of the three heads taking turns sleeping while one head stays awake. However, if Dodrio becomes very tired, even the head that remains awake may start to doze off. The strongest head with the thickest neck becomes the leader and gains primary control of the body.
