Zapdos is a legendary Electric/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is one of the three legendary birds of Kanto, alongside Articuno and Moltres. Zapdos has the appearance of a large, avian Pokémon with predominantly yellow plumage, resembling a thunderbolt. It has small, triangular eyes with black around them and a long, thin, light orange beak. Zapdos is said to live in thunderclouds and gain power when struck by lightning bolts. This legendary Pokémon has complete control over electricity and is rarely seen, often appearing during electrical storms.

In Galar, Zapdos has a regional form that is a Fighting/Flying-type known as the Strong Legs Pokémon. Galarian Zapdos has a different appearance, with a red-orange body, black plumage, and more muscular legs. It is known for its incredible speed, able to run through mountains at over 180 mph (300 km/h).

The Galarian form of Zapdos was introduced in the Crown Tundra expansion of Pokémon Sword and Shield, known for its belligerent nature and love of battling strong opponents. It appears in the Crown Tundra once every few decades.
