Ampharos is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is the final evolution of Mareep, evolving from Flaaffy at level 30. Ampharos is known as the "Light Pokémon" due to its ability to emit bright light from the red orb on its tail. This light is so powerful that it can be seen from space and has been used as a beacon for lost people or to send signals across vast distances.

Ampharos is a bipedal, yellow ovine Pokémon with a white belly. It has conical ears with black stripes and a red orb on its forehead. Its long neck has several black rings near the base, and its tail has a red orb at the tip. Ampharos's light-emitting ability has made it a valuable Pokémon throughout history, with people using its light to communicate over long distances or guide ships at sea.

In Generation VI, Ampharos gained the ability to Mega Evolve into Mega Ampharos using the Ampharosite. As Mega Ampharos, it grows a luxurious white mane and gains the Dragon type in addition to its Electric type. This transformation is said to awaken its long-sleeping dragon blood.
