About the name Jack
Jack began in medieval England as a pet form of John, through the form Jankin, and is not related to the French Jacques despite the resemblance. It appears in many folk tales, such as Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack was the most popular boys' name in England and Wales for many years around the turn of the millennium.
