Electrode is a unique Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, known for its distinctive appearance resembling an upside-down Poké Ball. This spherical Pokémon has earned the nickname "Bomb Ball" due to its tendency to explode at the slightest provocation. Electrode's top half is white, while its lower half is red, often causing Trainers to mistake it for an item.

As an evolution of Voltorb, Electrode possesses an even greater capacity for storing electrical energy. It tends to congregate near power plants and areas with fresh electricity generation, sometimes causing blackouts due to its consumption of electrical energy. Interestingly, the more electricity Electrode consumes, the faster it can move.

Unlike its pre-evolution, Electrode has developed the ability to control its explosive nature at will. This unpredictable behavior, combined with its speed, makes Electrode a formidable Pokémon in battle. When fully charged with electricity, it has been observed drifting with the wind.

Evolutions

Electrode evolves from Voltorb at level 30. In the Hisui region, Electrode has a regional form that is Electric/Grass-type, evolving from Hisuian Voltorb when exposed to a Leaf Stone.

Habits and Additions Across Generations

In later generations, Electrode gained the ability to learn moves like Magnetic Flux and Eerie Impulse, enhancing its supportive capabilities in battle. Its attraction to electricity has remained a constant trait, with Electrode often being found near power plants and other sources of electrical energy. The introduction of its Hisuian form in Pokémon Legends: Arceus added a new dimension to this classic Pokémon, giving it Grass-type characteristics and the ability to store chlorophyll energy along with electricity.
