Flareon is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is one of the eight possible evolutions of Eevee, triggered by exposure to a Fire Stone. Known as the Flame Pokémon, Flareon is a mammalian, quadrupedal creature covered in short, reddish-orange fur. It has long ears with black interiors, dark eyes, and a small black nose. Flareon's most distinctive features are its fluffy yellow fur forming a small tuft on its head, as well as its bushy tail and mane around its chest and neck.

Flareon's body contains a flame sac that allows it to produce and control intense heat. Its internal body temperature can reach up to 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit (900°C), with its flame sac capable of generating temperatures around 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1,650°C). This extreme heat is regulated through Flareon's fluffy fur, which releases excess heat into the air to prevent overheating.

In battle, Flareon can inhale air, heat it in its flame sac, and exhale it as powerful fire attacks. Its ability to store and manipulate heat makes it a formidable Fire-type Pokémon, especially in physical combat due to its high Attack stat.

Flareon evolves from Eevee when exposed to a Fire Stone. It does not evolve further.

Habits

Flareon is known to hunt in the mornings and evenings, using its fire abilities to flush out prey. It may engage in controlled burning of small areas, which serves an ecological purpose by creating natural firebreaks. When agitated, the flame chamber inside its body ignites, causing its body temperature to rise.

Additions Across Generations

In Generation II, with the introduction of the special split, Flareon's previously high special stat was divided into special attack and special defense, with the latter receiving the higher value. This change significantly impacted Flareon's battle strategy and effectiveness. The addition of new Fire-type moves and abilities in subsequent generations has helped to diversify Flareon's movepool and battling options.
