Politoed is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is the evolved form of Poliwhirl when traded while holding a King's Rock, and one of the final evolutionary forms of Poliwag. Politoed is known for its distinctive appearance, featuring a green body with yellow hands, belly, throat, and toes, resembling a frog. Its most notable feature is the long, curled hair on top of its head, which is considered proof of its status as a leader among its species.

This Pokémon is renowned for its ability to gather and lead groups of Poliwag and Poliwhirl. When Politoed roars, these Pokémon respond by assembling from far and wide, often cowering in fear of their leader. Politoed's leadership status is directly related to the length and curliness of its hair, with longer and more luxurious hair commanding greater respect and obedience from its followers.

Politoed is known for its unique vocalizations. It often gathers with others of its kind on moonlit nights to form large choruses. Generation VIII introduced gender differences in their cries and their habit of appearing on lake shores at nightfall to claim territory.
