Voltorb is a spherical Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It closely resembles a Poké Ball, with a red top half and white bottom half, but lacks buttons and has eyes. This unique appearance has led to speculation that Voltorb was created when a Poké Ball was exposed to an energy pulse. Voltorb is typically found in power plants and areas with electric fields, where it feeds on electricity. Known for its volatile temperament, Voltorb can explode at the slightest provocation or contact. This tendency has resulted in many unsuspecting humans being zapped when mistaking Voltorb for a Poké Ball. Voltorb moves by rolling, which can cause it to discharge if the ground is uneven. In the Hisui region, Voltorb has a regional variant that is a dual Electric/Grass-type. Unlike its Kantonian counterpart, Hisuian Voltorb has a friendly and excitable temperament. It can store electric currents in its belly and discharge them all at once through a hole, often accompanied by an uproarious laugh.
