Dugtrio is a Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is a set of Diglett triplets sharing a single body, although its full body remains a mystery as it's perpetually buried underground. Each of Dugtrio's three heads is incredibly tough with a smooth surface, brown skin, black eyes, and a large, round, pink nose. These triplets think and act cooperatively, moving their heads alternately to loosen soil and make burrowing easier.

This Pokémon is known for its impressive burrowing abilities, capable of tunneling at speeds of up to 60 mph (100 km/h) and reaching depths of 60 miles (100 kilometers) below the surface. Dugtrio's powerful digging can trigger tremors and earthquakes, leading some people to mistake its activities for actual seismic events.

Dugtrio plays a significant role in agriculture, as its digging aerates the soil and makes it suitable for farming. Despite its close relationship with farmers and other people, the parts of Dugtrio concealed underground have never been seen.

Habits and Additions Across Generations

In Alola, Dugtrio has a regional variant that is a dual-type Ground/Steel Pokémon. Alolan Dugtrio features golden whiskers that are actually metallic and function as sensors, capable of detecting vibrations from sounds several miles away. The Alolan form's whiskers are heavy, making it slower than its non-Alolan counterpart, but giving it the power to dig through even the hardest bedrock.

While Dugtrio's three heads typically get along well, there are rare occasions when they engage in huge fights over which head gets to eat first. This quirk adds an interesting dimension to the Pokémon's personality and group dynamics.
