Known as the Painter Pokémon, it has the remarkable ability to learn almost any move in the Pokémon world through its signature move, Sketch. Smeargle's most distinctive feature is its tail, which resembles a paintbrush and secretes a special fluid used to mark its territory. This fluid can produce over 5,000 different marks, each unique to individual Smeargle. The color and intensity of the fluid can change based on Smeargle's emotions. In urban areas with many Smeargle, walls are often covered in their graffiti-like markings. Interestingly, adult Smeargle have a tendency to let their comrades plant footprints on their backs, possibly as a sign of maturity. Smeargle fanatics are known to pay significant sums for particularly interesting or rare symbols drawn by these Pokémon.
